I’m so happy you landed here. You might have considered cutting photography out of your budget, but I’m here to tell you why you may want it.
Whether you’re planning an intimate wedding in Omaha, cutting out some of the traditional wedding standards, or eloping just the two of you, this day will still come with so many special moments and memories. You won’t want to miss out on photographing them. Hiring a professional wedding photographer is one of the traditional wedding items that really is worth it now and 40 years from now.
Why do you need to hire a professional photographer at the Douglas County Courthouse who has been there and done that before?
I won’t waste a moment of your day looking for the best lighting, important architecture, or iconic photograph locations. I’ve photographed at the Douglas County Courthouse over 20 times and am familiar with the best places in Omaha to take photos. I have a list prepped with the top 10 locations on various floors to let you enjoy the courthouse and get the best photos. Plain and simple. I know where to go to get good photos. Whether it is couple portraits or a family photo, I know where to go.
When you hire a professional photographer for your ceremony, you’re also hiring a guide. You won’t need to worry about figuring out the entire process alone! I have a full email for you with a step-by-step guide on how to get your marriage license in Douglas County, instructions on how to book a time, and a list of my favorite judges who will make your vows personal and special. Even on the day of, I’ll seamlessly walk you through the courthouse, direct where to go, and introduce you to the correct people to check-in with. You won’t be wondering where to go or what to do next from start to finish in this process.
Did you know 23 judges in Omaha’s Douglas County are willing to perform your civic ceremony? There are a ton of people who can marry you but that doesn’t mean you should pick just anyone off a list. I’ve collected a list over the years of the very best and most memorable judges. You don’t have to just take my word for it, I base my list off of the judges my couples have loved and give you a few details about what makes them so special!
On top of that, not all courtrooms are equal. Some judges have rooms with windows, some work out of AV closets, and some don’t even have a courtroom. I don’t want you to be shocked at where you are getting married on your wedding day; instead, I’ll tell you a little bit about each judge’s courtroom to get your perfect aesthetic.
While there are a ton of wonderful locations for portraits at your courthouse wedding, it is a public, government building. There are many signs, cars, trashcans, and not-so-picturesque parts of the building you do not want to be memorialized in your photos. When you hire me, I go through each and every detail of your photographs. If there is an ugly sign behind the most perfect candid of you, I do my best to make it disappear. Any distraction I’m capable of removing, I do. That’s not something you’ll be able to do by yourself and it isn’t something most photographers offer.
Did you know the iconic gold doors at the Douglas County Courthouse have large, permanent “no-smoking” and “no weapons” signs? If you haven’t noticed, it’s probably because I edit them out to perfect your photos!

As your photographer, I will be a friendly person to lean on during your wedding day. I am an extra pair of hands to hold a bouquet or marriage license, fix your outfit or hair for photos, take hair ties off your wrist, and hold onto your phones. I have even signed as a witness to multiple elopements! Having an extra set of hands guiding you through the day is so nice.
So go ahead, plan that sweet and simple little ceremony. But let me be your guide, your cheerleader, your witness, and your photographer, too. Don’t miss out on capturing a day you’re going to want to look back on 20 years from now.
