Alexa and I met in what feels like a lifetime ago: middle school. When she inquired for her wedding day, I was ecstatic to photograph someone I knew. From the moment I met Dylan, it was clear that they were the perfect pair: funny, down to earth, and entirely smitten with each other! They truly found their match.
During engagement photos, Alexa took us to “Grandpa’s Forest”: The most special childhood memory for her. We made it just in time for a perfect golden hour and a moment dancing under the trees. I quickly learned that Alexa and Dylan are lake people! We all know the type! They love to be out on the boat, partying with their favorite people, and enjoying the weather and nature. Those down home vibes certainly made their way into their wedding day, creating a low-key and go with the flow day. We never felt rushed or stressed by time, the day flowed perfectly!
On their wedding day, Alexa got ready with all of her childhood friends, her two sisters, and her mom. As the morning unfolded, tears were unexpectedly shed with her mother, she laughed and cried with her sisters, and joked around with her closest friends. Somehow it was both calm and emotional all at once! When it came time for the first look, Alexa and Dylan shared a moment away… but their people still cheered them on from the windows! I laughed out loud at Dylan’s awe of Alexa as he hyped her up immediately – exactly what I expected from his loud, loving personality!
After the ceremony, I climbed onto the party bus alongside the bridal party. And boy, am I glad I was there to capture Alexa and Dylan showing off some wild dance moves! These moments ended up being some of my favorite of the day!
As the party unfolded and every guest danced the night away, Dylan’s Grandfather’s cowboy hat was passed around. It makes an appearance throughout their wedding gallery and even snuck away with the couple for some sunset portraits – a little reminder of their families and the support they are surrounded by as they begin their life together.
Long live the cowboy hat!
